JACQUES HERMES, a well-known Greek fashion company, took a step towards reducing its carbon footprint ( CO 2 ) by participating in the Shopify Planet program. Through this action, it pays a zero carbon price for every order it carries out through the e-shop. This contribution strengthens the efforts for a greener and more environmentally friendly planet. It is an action based on recent academic studies that highlight the importance of sustainable practices in the fashion industry to global efforts to reduce CO 2 emissions.

According to the study by Wang et al. (2021), the textile industry is feasible to have zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by implementing circular business models, improved production processes and renewable energy sources. Collaborative efforts across the industry and green policy support are essential to accelerate the transition to more sustainable practices. Meanwhile, consumers can also play an important role in promoting circularity in the fashion industry. By participating in the Shopify Planet program, JACQUES HERMES contributes to these efforts. He accepts that the fashion industry will play a critical role in this issue and that sustainable practices are now considered necessary to eliminate emissions and pollutants. Consumers can also help promote sustainability in the industry. Therefore, it is considered necessary to support brands that are aware of environmental issues but also to adopt (more) sustainable practices in everyday life.

It is worth mentioning that the carbon footprint of the fashion industry is significant. Some estimates suggest it makes up as much as 10% of global CO 2 emissions. Concerns about climate change are constantly increasing and consumers are increasingly looking for environmentally friendly options. Therefore, companies that prioritize sustainability may attract more customers and gain a competitive advantage in the market. By participating in the Shopify Planet program, JACQUES HERMES not only contributes to global efforts to reduce carbon emissions, but also demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and interest to its conscious consumer audience. This action can encourage other companies to follow such practices so that there is a massive and substantial contribution to the global effort to reduce carbon emissions.
